Accreditation Staff
Angie Birney began working as accreditation coordinator at Ocean View in 2005. However, her involvement with Ocean View started in 1987 when she was an eighth grade student. After graduating from Midway (Ocean View) in 1992, Angie went on to earn an English degree and then a teaching credential from Christian Heritage College (now San Diego Christian College). She came back to the school as a faculty member and worked for two and a half years teaching English, Bible, writing, and other subjects until her older daughter was born. Then she returned in '05, after being at home with her two daughters, to work on accreditation for the school. She now works from her home office in beautiful Northwest Montana near Glacier National Park, where Angie, husband, and girls had relocated in the summer of 2006. Angie's job, in short, is to oversee and report progress on the School Improvement Plan that came out of our 2009 self study for accreditation. Her role for the school encompasses many areas, including development of our curriculum and instructional program. There are many satisfying aspects to her role, but the most energizing work for Angie is preparation of materials for use in upcoming faculty development sessions along with all the attendant collaborations with teachers and administration. Angie's second job of substituting at a local elementary school has turned out to be a tremendous opportunity to observe and experience many aspects of material she has researched for the school, and has stimulated many helpful ideas.
